This 2026 $1 Coloured Uncirculated Coin embodies the determination, courage and the true spirit of the Paralympic movement.Australia first competed at the Winter Paralympic Games in 1980 in Geilo, Norway, with two athletes. It wasn’t until 1992 in Albertville, France, that Australia won its first medal – a bronze by Michael Milton in alpine skiing. Milton went on to become a Paralympic legend, winning six gold, three silver and two bronze medals across four Games, and setting the foundation for Australia’s success on snow.Following in his tracks, athletes like Bart Bunting, Jess Gallagher and Simon Patmore have continued Australia’s proud tradition. Bunting won multiple golds in visually impaired alpine skiing in 2002.
