This grand walk passes from Pendle, Lancashire through some of the finest parts of the Yorkshire Dales to end at Sedbergh. It offers scenic beauty, superb wildlife and makes a fitting tribute to George Fox. He preferred to deliver his sermons outdoors, and his long walk and discussions with Seekers and other dissidents were the catalyst for the creation of the Society of Friends. From Pendle Hill, where Fox had his vision, to Fox's Pulpit, where he gave his 'Sermon on the Fell' to a crowd of over 1000, the route is steeped in Fox's personal story. This walk ends at Sedbergh, a town rich in Quaker heritage, with a circuit taking in Fox's Pulpit. The whole route can comfortably be completed inside one week. Rucksack Readers has worked with leading Quaker experts on this project, and has developed the route so that walkers can stay in a soft bed after each section. A second volume, Friends Way 2, is already in the works, and it will complete the journey from Sedbergh to Swarthmoor Hall, celebrating the role of Margaret Fell Fox, the mother of Quakerism. It will be published in 2023. ISBN: 9781913817060 Publication date: 16/05/2022 Format: Paperback Publisher: Rucksack Readers Categories: Non-Scottish Maps & Guides
